Francesco Alamanni PhD
Professor Francesco Rodolfo Luigi Alamanni is a Cardiac Surgeon and Director of the II Chair of Cardiac Surgery at the Cardiac Surgery Unit of the IRCCS Galeazzi Sant’Ambrogio Hospital and Palazzo della Salute in Milan.
In 1978, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sassari. In 1981, he specialized in Angiology and Vascular Surgery at the University of Milan, and in 1990, he also specialized in Cardioangiosurgery at the University of Padua.
His professional experience includes:
- In 1983, he became a Cardiac Surgery Assistant at the Monzino Cardiology Center.
- From 1986 to 2001, he worked as a university researcher, first in General Surgery and later in Cardiac Surgery at the Universities of Sassari and Milan.
- In 1992, he became the Deputy Director of the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Monzino Cardiology Center, Milan.
- From 2000 to 2021, he was Head of the Cardiac Surgery Unit at the Monzino Cardiology Center, Milan.
- In the early 2000s, he served as Director of the Cardiology Institute at the University of Milan.
- From 2001 to 2005, he was an Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan.
- Since 2005, he has been a Full Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan.
- From 2008 to 2013, he was the Director of the School of Specialization in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan.
- From 2009 to 2021, he was the Director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Program.
- Since 2019, he has been in his second term as Director of the School of Specialization in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milan.
- From 2021 to 2023, he served as Commissioner for National Scientific Qualification for Vascular, Thoracic, and Cardiac Surgery
Professor Alamanni is the author of several book chapters and has more than 300 publications in national and international journals.
He is a full member of the European Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery, the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
